Columbus Public Service Changes for Indigenous Peoples Day

No Trash Collection on Monday, Oct. 13, but Recycling and Yard Waste Pickup Will Follow the Regular Schedule

Trash Collection:

City of Columbus trash collection service will not be provided on Monday, Oct. 13, in observance of Indigenous Peoples Day.

For residents assigned a collection color, pickup will rotate forward by one day the week of the holiday:

Monday, Oct. 13:                           NO COLLECTION

Tuesday, Oct. 14:                          Navy

Wednesday, Oct. 15:                    Pink

Thursday, Oct. 16:                        Ruby   

Friday, Oct.17:                              Gold

Monday, Oct. 20:                          Gray

The color-coded collection schedule will rotate forward again on Veterans Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11.

For residents not assigned a collection color: If your collection day falls on or after the holiday, your trash pickup will be delayed by one day during the week of the holiday.

Recycling and Yard Waste Collection: The collection schedule for weekly recycling and biweekly yard waste is not impacted by Indigenous Peoples Day. Please set out recycling and yard waste for collection on Oct. 13 if it is your scheduled day.

The Refuse Collection Waste and Reuse Convenience Centers, 2100 Alum Creek Dr. and 1550 Georgesville Rd., will be closed on Tuesday, Oct. 14, and will reopen on Oct. 15 with normal hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Residents may drop off acceptable items for reuse, recycling or proper disposal. Parking Kiosks and Meters: Parking at city kiosks and meters will not be enforced on Monday, Oct. 13. Parking restriction signage at some meters will be enforced, including but not limited to morning and evening rush hours and zones marked for valets, taxis, loading, handicapped-only and residential parking permit areas.

Offices Closed: Department offices, including the Parking Violations Bureau and the Right-of-Way Permits Office, will be closed on Monday, Oct. 13. Permits may be filed online at https://ca.columbus.gov/ca/.
