Water is life—not just for people, but for wildlife, ecosystems and future generations. Every drop counts, and how we use water every day matters more than we think. Here are some easy ways you can conserve, starting today:
Outdoors:
- Water your plants early in the morning or late in the evening to reduce evaporation.
- Plant native Ohio species that thrive in our climate and need less watering.
- Add mulch to garden beds to help soil hold moisture longer.
Indoors:
- Install low-flow showerheads and fix leaks—this can save hundreds of gallons a year.
- Only run full loads in dishwashers and washing machines.
- Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth.
Water conservation isn’t just about using less—it’s about using smarter. Let’s make everyday choices that protect our natural resources and support a healthier planet.
