Media Advisory: Columbus Recreation and Parks Department Opens New Pickleball Courts at Anheuser-Busch Sports Park
COLUMBUS – The City of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the new pickleball courts at Anheuser-Busch Sports Park. These four outdoor, lighted courts expand free, accessible recreation opportunities on the northwest side and are part of the city’s ongoing efforts to grow sports facilities across Columbus.
"We’re committed to investing in neighborhoods and creating vibrant, connected communities," said Mayor Andrew J. Ginther. "These new pickleball courts at Busch Park are part of that investment—providing free, accessible spaces where residents can come together, stay active and enjoy their city."
Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the country, and the City of Columbus is stepping up to meet the demand. The Anheuser-Busch Sports Park courts are the second in a citywide rollout of dedicated outdoor pickleball courts, increasing equitable access to this popular sport. The courts feature push-to-play lighting until 11 p.m., two shaded pavilions, resurfaced parking and ADA-accessible design.
"Recreation is essential to building strong, healthy communities," said Bernita A. Reese, M.S., CPRP, director of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department. "Pickleball is a growing sport for people of all ages, and we’re proud to create more opportunities for residents to play, connect and thrive."

About the Project
The Anheuser-Busch Sports Park Pickleball Courts are part of the City of Columbus’ Community Sports Park initiative to expand quality sports facilities throughout the city. Located at Anheuser-Busch Sports Park, the project features four fenced, outdoor pickleball courts with lighting, two shaded pavilions, resurfaced parking and accessible design.
Funded by an $850,000 investment from the City’s Capital Budget, this project was shaped by community input and the Columbus Community Sports Park feasibility study. It significantly increases access to pickleball for residents and positions Columbus as a growing destination for tournaments and recreational play.
Anheuser-Busch Sports Park is the second dedicated outdoor pickleball location to open in Columbus, following Warner Woods Park, with additional courts planned at Krumm and McCoy parks.
