City of Columbus to Celebrate Maloney Park Reopening with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
COLUMBUS - The City of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department invites community members and media to celebrate the grand reopening of Maloney Park at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, June 2, at 1 p.m.
Maloney Park’s $1.87 million redesign transformed the 25-acre park into a dynamic gathering space that promotes wellness, play and connection. The updated amenities include a new playground, looped walking trail, fitness stations, soccer fields, improved seating and direct access to the future Linden Green Line, a 7-mile linear park and trail.
“Parks are more than places to play—they’re vital to the health, safety and strength of our neighborhoods,” said Mayor Andrew J. Ginther. “The transformation of Maloney Park reflects our commitment to the Linden neighborhood and every neighborhood so that every resident has access to safe, welcoming public spaces.”
The park's new features were shaped by the community, ensuring Maloney Park remains a community hub for formal and informal gatherings.
“We’re building parks with purpose,” said Bernita A. Reese, M.S., CPRP, director of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department. “This redesign reflects the power of community-driven investment—where every bench, path and play space helps people connect, grow and thrive.”
