On July 29, 2024 Columbus City Council enacted the first phase of the new zoning code. This historic moment was two years in the making, formed by an unprecedented community engagement effort.
We heard from thousands of people like you who live and work in Columbus and surrounding areas. We had tough conversations about how we want to grow as a community. We worked to create a code that makes way for critically needed housing, supports local businesses, prioritizes sustainable development, and creates equitable opportunities for current residents and our new neighbors.
