Nature preserves serve as vital habitats for various species of plants and wildlife amidst the urban sprawl of Columbus. Our nature preserve system conserves and enhances ecologically significant land through research, awareness and education. Learn more about the importance of nature preserves.
Nestled within this network is Overbrook Nature Preserve, a recent addition to our City's list of nature preserves. Located at 300 Overbrook Drive, 43214, this 13.7-acre sanctuary acts as a protective buffer along the Adena Brook ravine, safeguarding its delicate ecosystem that eventually converges with the Olentangy River. The trees and shrubs lining the ravine creates a crucial separation between the water and surrounding development, nurturing the stream habitat. During your visit, you might encounter captivating species such as the river birch and the elusive white-breasted nuthatch. Overbrook is a sanctuary for several threatened and endangered species, including the majestic yellow-crowned night-heron and the nyctanassa violacea.
You’re encouraged to visit, please follow all rules so you can help protect this ecologically significant land.
