Last night, Columbus City Council approved ordinance 0830-2024, amending Chapter 3310 and related sections of Columbus’ zoning code. These changes outline the legislative process required to enact changes to the zoning map and code resulting from the Zone In initiative. No action was taken to change the zoning code – a proposal for modernized zoning is scheduled for public review starting in April 2024.
The ordinance adopted last night lays out the following process to modernize Columbus’ zoning code: once a code proposal is introduced, City Council must legislate a resolution to proceed, which will initiate public review of the draft code. This will start a sixty day public comment period, during which residents, property owners, city boards and commissions and other stakeholders will have the opportunity to provide comments. The draft code and map outlining a series of new mixed use districts for key corridors will be available for review on the project website and in person at the interactive Zone In Gallery. Please stay tuned for further information!
