The City of Columbus has started the planning process to improve how we bike, scooter and skate – however you choose to roll – in Columbus. We’re calling the plan “Bike Plus” – and we need your help!
What is the Bike Plus Plan?
Bike Plus is a plan by the City of Columbus to create a safe, connected, and comfortable network for people to bike, scooter, skate and roll in the city. Through transportation improvements like protected bike lanes, trail connections, and crosswalks, we can make it more convenient, safe and enjoyable to get around Columbus without a car. This plan will identify where these improvements are most needed to connect community members to the places they need and want to go.
Why does this plan matter?
The goal of Bike Plus is to make travel safer in all neighborhoods, but particularly in the Vision Zero High Injury Network and in Communities of Interest. Compared to other neighborhoods, people living in Communities of Interest may have fewer choices about how, when and where they travel, putting them at higher risk as they move around.
We know we need to provide more safe and viable options. This planning process will prioritize community voices to inform how we can reduce barriers to these options and make a direct impact on how we travel and connect with each other across Columbus.
