City Council Now Accepting Applications for the 2023-24 School Year Internship Cohort
June 3, 2023
Columbus City Council is seeking applicants for our next Internship Cohort! This cohort will work with City Council for the entire 2023-24 school year.
This internship is a paid opportunity and students will be permitted to work up to 20 hours per week, with the expectation of a minimum of 15 hours.
Students selected for the program will be placed in one of the following offices:
Councilmember offices
Community Engagement
Communications
Legislative Research Office
City Clerk's Office
The program will immerse students in the daily work of City Council. From Council meetings to public hearings to community outreach, students will get a hands-on experience inside City Hall.
"My time interning at Council has truly been one of my most rewarding professional experiences thus far. Not only is the team welcoming but they are also highly supportive of interns’ interests, enabling us to work on projects that align with our academic areas of study and career aspirations," says Tyler Littlejohn, an intern in Councilmember Shayla Favor's office. "Though this internship, I have had the opportunity to get hands-on experience in policy and municipal governance, honing my writing and research skills while doing so. I cannot recommend this program enough to those interested in policy and/or gaining experience in local government!"
