Jack Attack Regional Boccia Tournament Returns This Saturday and Sunday
Jack Attack Regional Boccia Tournament, the department’s annual Boccia tournament for adaptive athletes, returns this Saturday, Feb. 25! This tournament showcases recreational and world-ranked athletes competing for a spot at the national tournament – and bragging rights! Hosted by Adaptive Sports Club of Columbus, this year's edition takes place at Franklin Park Adventure Center from Feb. 25-26, beginning at 9 a.m. each day.
This event is free to attend – come learn about Boccia, and check out the action! Volunteers are needed to help manage registration, run the score table, assist athletes on the court and with general tournament assistance. If you're interested in volunteering, sign up for a morning, afternoon or all-day shift on Saturday or Sunday
Columbus Celebrates Its Boxing Legends at Barack Community Center This Saturday
Legends, a celebration of Columbus boxing legends, returns this weekend for the first time since 2020! This year, the event honors Gregory Dyer, Tim Bowe and Xander Jackson. The showcase is slated to take place at Barack Community Center, 580 E. Woodrow Ave., on Saturday, Feb. 25.
The event kicks off at 5 p.m. and features a meet-and-greet, a ceremony recognizing this year's honorees as well as boxing bouts featuring up-and-coming local talent. Tickets start at just $10 and can be purchased by calling 614-645-3610 or at the gate on the night of the showcase.
The Legends showcase is the first of five amateur boxing events hosted by Columbus Recreation and Parks Department in 2023. Learn more about the remaining events and how to sign up for boxing classes.
