BOXING IS BACK: 2023 SCHEDULE OF BOXING EVENTS UNVEILED
Columbus Recreation and Parks Department today unveiled its schedule of amateur boxing events for the year. 2023 will see Columbus Recreation and Parks host a total of five events, which include showcases, invitationals and tournaments. Notably, the slate of events marks the return of boxing to department facilities for the first time since 2020.
The first boxing event of the year is slated to take place next month, when Barack Community Center hosts the Legends showcase on Saturday, Feb. 25. This will be followed by the Hall of Fame showcase at Franklin Park Adventure Center on Saturday, April 29.
Boxing action then moves to the Ohio Expo Center, with the Ohio State Fair Invitational occurring July 27-29. The department is also set to host a Tribute to Muhammad Ali showcase on Saturday, Sept. 30, with the location to be announced at a later time. Finally, the 2023 boxing action wraps up on Saturday, Nov. 4, when the Bill McDonald Athletic Complex hosts the Buster Douglas Invitational.
