Priscilla R. Tyson Cultural Arts Center Announces November and December Events
COLUMBUS – The Priscilla R. Tyson Cultural Arts Center (CAC) has announced its November and December 2022 calendar of events.
Exhibitions
Best Served Cold Nov. 4-Dec. 17; Main Gallery
Shelley Baird presents a delightfully macabre exhibition of table settings with newspaper stories of murder printed on napkins – all involving food.
Memento: Time and Place Nov. 4-Dec. 17; Main Gallery
Anita Dawson brings us work representing her thinking about a kind of “Golden Age” in American life and the possibility of its loss. Messages from nature in the form of birds, rabbits, frogs and the consolation of beauty in moments like a summer afternoon or dusk in a garden create scenarios for quiet reflection.
Artist in Residence Exhibit: Jennifer McCracken Nov. 4-Dec. 17; Loft Gallery
Artist Jennifer McCracken presents enamel works that explore and emulate dogs she witnessed while living for several years in Taiwan. Whether sleeping on the side of a busy street, running with buddies under an elevated highway or hanging out in the park, the dog became a never-ending source of creativity and inspiration.
Opening Night: Friday, Nov. 4, from 6-8 p.m.
Programming
Conversations & Coffee Thursdays, Noon-1 p.m.
This free program features a different artist every other week, sharing insights into their creative process.
Nov. 3: Pamela Talbert Hamilton, actor of Pam T. Production, presenting in full costume: Harriet Tubman.
