As spring basketball and volleyball leagues wind down, a reminder that summer registration opens on Friday, May 14. Offerings and registration will be available on our website. Get your teams organized early, as most summer leagues typically fill up!
Over the past two weeks we have had a great start to the latest sessions of adult kickball and softball. There are 22 kickball teams and nearly 500 softball teams participating this session, which is an outstanding turnout. It is nice to see everyone back outside competing and enjoying themselves with friends and colleagues. That said, we are in need of umpires to cover all those games! Are you a current player, a former player, or have good knowledge of the game? Perfect! - click here if you are interested!
Lastly, congratulations to all of our spring softball championship teams! Team photos can be found here.

Renny Tyson will be the new Next Level Basketball Camp Director this summer and we sat down to chat with him about his plans for summer camp and where his love for basketball and coaching began.
Renny began his basketball career in 1998 as the Women’s Basketball Manager at Hampton University. Under the guidance of Head Coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs, Renny was given the opportunity to train and work with the point guards. This opportunity was the catalyst for his love of coaching and training athletes. After college Renny returned to Columbus and began coaching AAU, he was also the freshman Boys Basketball Coach at Beechcroft High School. He worked his way up to coaching the varsity team with Coach Scott Davis. He would later become a skill development coach. Renny was able to gain skills and expertise through watching films, working summer camps, skills clinics at various Ohio Colleges and Universities, and meeting and working with several youth coaches throughout Central Ohio. Many of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department’s aquatics facilities – eight outdoor pools, one indoor pool and seven spray parks and fountains – need improvements to better serve residents. To make sure these facilities meet the needs of residents, we are kicking off the Aquatics Capital Improvement Project to see what you, our community, need and want to see in our aquatics facilities and programs! Columbus Recreation and Parks Department will hold public meetings in the coming months to map out a long-term plan that can be implemented immediately as we begin to look at renovating the Glenwood and Windsor pools. Learn more about the project by visiting columbusaquatics.org.
All residents are asked to fill out an online survey sharing their thoughts about the current aquatics facilities.
