Your Neighborhood Liaison

The Department of Neighborhoods works to ensure strong and vibrant neighborhoods across Columbus by serving as your front door to City government. It is our goal to connect residents with a wealth of information and services.
One of the ways we do this is through the Neighborhood Liaison program. Neighborhood Liaisons work with the dedicated residents and committed neighborhood leaders across Columbus to address community concerns and unleash neighborhood potential. Please watch the video above and learn more from Assistant Director Toya Johnson about the Neighborhood Liaisons.
Neighborhood Liaisons provide support to the 21 Area Commissions in Columbus. In 2019, the Liaison team finalized efforts to identify new ways to support the work of all Area Commissions. With feedback from Area Commissioners, the Department recently released recommended best practices and will continue the annual training series and provide support for website development. In addition, updates to Columbus City Code Chapter 3109 were recently approved by City Council. Together, these steps will enhance meeting management, improve communications, boost awareness and ensure Commissions are accessible to residents, neighborhood groups, and business and property owners.
We look forward to continuing the dialogue with Area Commission members on Saturday, December 14th at the final Area Commission leadership training and summit of 2019. This will be an opportunity to identify those Commissions that want to work with us to pilot the recommended best practices.

We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with you to help make Columbus America’s Opportunity City. Please contact us anytime at (614) 645-1993.
