Monthly Safety Topic
Common hazards with lawn mowing
Mowing the lawn is a common activity many of us do regularly. Because it is so common, we often forget about common hazards both at work and at home. Ensure your employees are properly trained on the equipment they will be using. Review the manufacturer’s manuals that cover safe operation of the equipment. Always make sure employees inspect the terrain before mowing. Everyone involved in mowing should wear the proper personal protective equipment: shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and sunscreen or long sleeves/pants. Check out our full list of mowing safety tips for more information!

BWC library question of the month
A question received by the library over the past month with our response.
Question: Do you have any videos on heat stress?
Answer: This is a “hot” topic lately! We have several videos on heat stress available on our subscription to video streaming service Streamery. To access the streaming videos, complete the BWC Video Library borrower registration and write down your 6-digit borrower ID when finished. Once you are registered, please email the BWC Library at library@bwc.ohio.gov with your name and video library borrower ID number. We can then email instructions on how to access the streaming videos.
For more information about streaming videos, please see the Safety Videos page under the dropdown for “Streaming videos”.
