New policies for Functional Capacity Evaluation, Adult Day Care, and Hospice
To help clarify new procedure codes identified in our 2021 Professional Provider Fee Schedule, we developed three new policies for our Billing and Reimbursement Manual (BRM). They are Functional Capacity Evaluation (BRM -29), Adult Day Care (BRM-31), and Hospice (BRM-30). You can click here to link to these policies in our manual.
These policies will help you better understand the definitions for our policy terminology and the use of new local level codes and service offerings available for injured workers. For more information, you may email feedback.medical@bwc.state.oh.us.

We continue to serve you during this COVID-19 state of emergency with teams teleworking to assure our core operations for Ohio’s injured workers and employers are as smooth as possible. Here are some highlights of what we’re doing for our customers during the pandemic.
• Employers — Check your mail, cash those dividend checks! We urge Ohio employers to cash the dividend checks we mailed in December to mitigate the economic hardship brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Deadline extended for HVAC assistance program to protect older Ohioans! We extended our deadline to apply for reimbursement of eligible expenses under our COVID-19 Indoor Air Quality Assistance Program to March 31, 2021. Our federally funded program reimburses nursing homes, assisted living centers, and adult day centers that invest in air quality improvements to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
This program offers up to $15,000 to eligible entities for the costs of inspections, assessments, maintenance, and improvements to indoor heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. It also reimburses for secondary devices designed to destroy bacteria, mold, and viruses. Read more, including eligibility requirements on our website.
• More non-medical grade masks on the way! Watch your doorstep, employers. Working with Ohio manufacturers and nonprofits we are distributing 23 million masks to Ohio’s employers and workforce to weaken the spread of COVID-19. This is the second round of masks in our Protecting Ohio’s Workforce – We’ve Got you Covered.
Encourage your patients, colleagues, and employees to continue wearing their masks. All of us are setting an example for our communities. When we’re out in public, Masks On!
