Ohio Attorney General DeWine, Ohio Christian University to Hold Faith-Based
Drug Education Conference

(CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio) -- Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Ohio Christian University will partner tomorrow to hold a special event for the faith-based community regarding drug addiction in Ohio.

The Saving Our Communities: Drug Education Conference for Pastors program will focus on helping pastors and their congregations learn how to assist those affected by drug addiction.

"Government and law enforcement can't solve the problem of drug addiction alone, so fighting this issue community by community at the grassroots level is essential," said Attorney General DeWine.  "The faith-based community can play a vital role in addressing the drug epidemic by offering counsel, group support, and hope to both those battling addiction and their families."

"If the drug epidemic is to be overcome and defeated throughout Ohio, then it will take more than one person, more than one organization or institution to fight the good fight," said Ohio Christian University President Dr. Mark Smith.  "It will take a movement, an army of institutions in the various segments of our society coming together in a collaborative spirit utilizing everyone's special gifts and influences to beat back this destructive force."

More than 230 pastors, lay-ministers, and parishioners are expected to attend the program to hear from law enforcement, counselors, educators, and fellow pastors with new insights into what the church can do to help with the drug epidemic.
