eCase Upgrades Effective Tomorrow!

eCase Upgrades Effective Tomorrow!

This is a reminder that the Workers’ Compensation Board (Board) is making several upgrades to eCase - the application that allows you to view the electronic case folders that the Board uses to process claims for injured workers.

This is just one of the many ways the Board is leveraging technology to modernize and improve stakeholder interaction with our systems, making the Board better for workers and better for business.

These upgrades, scheduled to take effect tomorrow, will enhance the user experience by making it easier to navigate and access eCase, and include the following:

General eCase improvements

  • Will no longer require the use of Java.
  • Will work on a desktop or laptop in the latest version of major browsers such as Chrome, Microsoft Edge (Chromium), Firefox, or Safari.

Case info screen

  • Documents will be easily downloaded.
  • Document viewer will display PDFs. It will display the original format (e.g., MS Word) for any document uploaded through eCase Upload.

Upload screen

  • Will replace the previous eCase upload experience.
  • Upload feature will no longer take users out of the application to their default browser, but instead, will upload within the eCase application.

 Scheduled hearings (eCase Administrators)

  • A new Export option will allow users to export the Hearing List to an excel file.
  • A “statewide” option added to the District section will show all districts where cases are being handled.
  • Will feature a new “District” column so users know which offices their hearings are in if they do a statewide search.

Assigning eCase access (eCase Administrators)

  • Payers granting view access to other organizations will no longer need to scroll through the full list of eCase organizations. The filter option will cut down on the size of the list within the drop-down menu. Payers will be able to type within the NYS/WCB Defined Groups drop-down list to jump to the first letter within the list of groups.

Please be reminded of the following:

  • The way you will access eCase isn’t changing. You can continue to access eCase via the following:
    • The eCase overview webpage,
    • The online services webpage, or
    • the online applications menu in the upper right corner of any page on the Board’s website.
  • Do not save or bookmark a link directly to the eCase NY.gov login page or the eCase application. You can bookmark the eCase Overview page if you need easy access.

Training

The Board has developed step-by-step guides on how to use eCase and these will be available when the upgrade takes effect this Friday, May 13, 2022.
