January 7, 2026
Â
Dear Neighbors,
As we welcome the New Year, I would like to extend my warmest wishes to you and your family and invite you to join us for yet another exciting year in the Town of Wappinger. 2026 brings with it new projects, thoughtful legislative initiatives, and continued action focused on improving your quality of life and protecting what makes our community such a special place to call home.
Â
We are also pleased to welcome Second Ward Councilwoman Heather O’Dell to the Wappinger Town Board. Councilwoman O’Dell brings much excitement to public service and community engagement. Our Administration looks forward to working alongside her as we continue advancing the priorities of our neighbors.
Â
This January marks an exciting milestone with the opening of our brand-new Community Center at Brexel-Schlathaus Park. Designed for residents of all ages, this space will serve as a true gathering place for programs, events, and recreation. We are especially proud that this project was completed using grant funding and in-house labor, saving taxpayer dollars while delivering a high-quality facility for the community to enjoy. Check it out Monday-Friday 8:30 – 4:00. This location as well as The Chapel at Carnwath Farms Historic Site & Park is available for rent.
Â
We are also making great progress on the renovation of the Senior Center at the Town Hall campus, which is currently underway with the support of grant funding. These improvements will enhance comfort, accessibility, and programming for our senior residents, ensuring that we continue to improve our senior enrichment activities.
Â
In addition, we continue to expand services for our residents. Beginning this month, the Town Recycle Center will begin accepting electronic waste, including televisions, computers, and other e-waste items—providing a convenient and responsible way to dispose of these materials.
Â
As the year unfolds, our focus remains on smart planning, responsible investment, and delivering real results for our neighbors. Thank you for being an engaged and valued part of our community. I look forward to all that we will accomplish together in the year ahead.
Â
See you around Town,
Joseph D. Cavaccini, Town Supervisor

Supervisor Cavaccini is beyond honored and humbled to be sworn in for a second term as Town Supervisor! Hosting the 2026 Town Inauguration Ceremony at The Chapel at Carnwath Farms Historic Site & Park made the moment especially meaningful.

As we begin this new term, Cavaccini looks forward to building on that progress and continuing to protect the rural-suburban quality of life that makes our Town such a special place to call home.

Reminder to Residents - Keep Vehicles & Cleared Snow Off Roadways During/After Winter Storms
As we all are no strangers to New York winter weather, the snowfall we have had so far should be no surprise to any of us.Â

This is the most snow our region has experienced in years. We continue to ask for your cooperation as we remove snow from Town roadways. This includes, removing your vehicles from all roads and do not throw snow in the middle of your road before/during/after it has been cleared.

Supervisor Cavaccini Joins the Community in 2025 Wreaths Across America Ceremony
This past December, our community joined thousands across the nation at noon for the annual Wreaths Across America Ceremony at the Wappingers Falls Rural Cemetery. As always this event was truly an excellent display of community pride and patriotism with hundreds of wreaths being donated by our neighbors and area businesses to be placed on the final resting places of every veteran buried in the cemetery.

Special thanks to Dani Masterson and Virgil Capollari for all of their hard work in making each year’s event a memorable one and expanding this program to our Town’s own New Hackensack and Middlebush Cemeteries.

The Town of Wappinger Celebrates Hanukkah Lighting the Menorah at Brexel-Schlathaus ParkÂ
Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini, Fourth Ward Councilman Al Casella, and County Legislator Lynne Miele-Versaci lit the Town of Wappinger’s Menorah at Brexel-Schlathaus Park for the second night of Hanukkah.

Throughout history, the Jewish people have shown remarkable strength and resilience, even during the most difficult of times.
Town Supervisor Cavaccini gathered local officials for a brief moment of rememberance for those inpacted for the horrific events in Sydney Austrialia. “Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and our Jewish neighbors. May the light of the beautiful menorah remind us all of the shared values that unite us peace, compassion, and unity.”
Chag Sameach and warm wishes for a meaningful Hanukkah to all who celebrate.
