FESTIVE EVENTS HAPPENING AROUND YOUR TOWN OF WAPPINGER
Your Guide to Local Holiday Events Happening This December 2025
Dear Neighbors,
As we approach the close of 2025, it is impossible to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to our Town of Wappinger. It is truly an honor to serve as your Town Supervisor, and I’m constantly humbled by the opportunity to work alongside so many dedicated residents, business owners, employees, and community leaders who make Wappinger such a special place.
Time has truly flown by this year, and as we enter this festive season, I encourage everyone to take a step back and cherish special moments with loved ones. The holidays are a meaningful time to reflect on our many blessings and to share joy, kindness, and gratitude with family, friends, and neighbors.
This Friday, I invite you to join us at Brexel-Schlathaus Park for our annual Tree Lighting and Celebration of Lights Parade. This cherished community tradition captures the spirit of the season and celebrates the importance of Christmas, Hanukkah, and the broader holiday season we all share. It’s a wonderful evening filled with tradition, lights, and togetherness.
Throughout the month, Wappinger is ready to spread holiday cheer with a great lineup of winter events for all ages. From tree and menorah lighting ceremonies to festive parades and seasonal programs, there is truly something for everyone to enjoy. On behalf of our Parks and Recreation team, I encourage you and your family to join us, participate, and create lasting holiday memories together.
As you prepare for the holidays, please remember to shop local and support our small businesses. Wappinger’s small businesses are the backbone of our community, and choosing to shop small helps keep our town vibrant while strengthening our local economy. I also encourage residents to sign up and participate in our Second Annual “Light Up Wappinger” Contest, a fun way to showcase your holiday spirit while helping to brighten neighborhoods throughout town.
I am also proud to share that the Town Board has unanimously approved the 2026 Final Budget. This budget reflects our continued commitment to expanding services and programs while remaining under the tax cap. Importantly, it includes a tax rate reduction that will benefit all of our taxpayers during our Nation’s 250th year. As we look ahead to 2026, I am confident we will continue to move forward with progress and deliver improvements that enhance the quality of life for all who call Wappinger home.
On behalf of my family, and our Town of Wappinger employees and officials, I wish you and your loved ones a joyous and peaceful holiday season. May the New Year bring good health, happiness, and continued prosperity to all.
See you around Town,
Joseph D. Cavaccini, Town Supervisor

#ICYMI In partnership with the Town of Wappinger, the Wappingers Historical Society unveiled a new historical marker noting the significance of the Chelsea hamlet.
Deputy Supervisor Lisa Paoloni, representing Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini, and Historical Society President Beth Devine welcomed neighbors and guests as they dedicated the plaque that stands in the heart of the waterfront hamlet’s square yesterday.
“Sharing the history of our community has been one of my true passions since first entering public service.
Through collaborative partnerships such as the one we’ve forged between the Town and the Wappingers Historical Society, we continue to recognize the places, stories, and people that shaped our identity. This marker is more than a sign; it is a testament to that commitment. Chelsea’s history is a remarkable tale of industry, transportation, innovation, and community spirit.”, said Supervisor Cavaccini.
