SPOOKY & FALL FESTIVE EVENTS HAPPENING AROUND YOUR TOWN OF WAPPINGER
Your Guide to Local Events Happening October through November
Dear Neighbors,
October in the Hudson River Valley is one of the most beautiful times of the year. As the leaves change into their vibrant colors, I encourage everyone to take advantage of the crisp fall air by enjoying our Town parks, trails, and open spaces, as well as visiting our many family-owned farms and farmstands for apple picking, fresh cider, and warm donuts that make this season so special in Wappinger.
Here in our Office, it has been a season of sharpening our pencils and planning as we finalized the Town Supervisor’s Tentative Budget for 2026. This year’s proposal once again delivers a tax rate decrease for our residents, remains under the State’s tax levy cap, and provides for expanded programs and services that will benefit families, seniors, and neighbors of every age. It is a testament to our commitment to fiscal responsibility while continuing to move Wappinger forward.
At the same time, our calendar is filled with exciting events for you to enjoy this month. From community celebrations to seasonal activities, there are opportunities for everyone to come together and enjoy what makes our Town so special. I want to take this moment to thank the thousands of residents and visitors who joined us for CarniFall 2025—your energy, spirit, and community pride helped make it a truly memorable part of our Wappinger150 celebrations.
I look forward to seeing you out and about this October, enjoying the best that our Town and the Hudson Valley have to offer.
See you around Town,
Joseph D. Cavaccini, Town Supervisor

Rain Rain, Go AWAY!
🚍 Exciting News for Wappinger!
Nine years ago, the Town was given free bus shelters that have sat in storage since then and our residents have been without shelter when waiting for the bus. That’s right nine years… Once we took office we set out to correct that and after a year of collaboration and State permits, we are proud to announce that the Town of Wappinger now has its very first bus shelter, located on Route 9 in front of Wappinger Plaza/Hannaford!
This project took time — especially working through necessary state approvals and ensuring that the site

selected was ADA compliant — but thanks to the incredible partnership with Dutchess County Public Transit and the dedicated efforts of Michael and Amanda, it's now a reality. 🙌
No more shopping cart benches along our sidewalks, our residents now have a safe, attractive, and comfortable place to sit and wait for the bus, and this is just the beginning of our commitment to a more connected Wappinger.

This ceremony is an effort to highlight each agency that covers Wappinger – fire, police, EMS, and dispatchers – to provide recognition for first responders who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in the past year. Their unwavering commitment through every challenging call and difficult moment exemplifies the spirit of service and bravery. Thank you for your relentless efforts and for being the backbone of our community’s safety and resilience.
We would also like to send a special Thank You to Senior Councilman, representing Ward 1, for all of his efforts in making this ceremony memorable each year!

Town of Wappinger Remembrance Ceremony at Sgt. Palmateer 9/11 Memorial Park Hosted By Councilman William H. Beale and the Wappinger Town Board
|
|
|
We as a nation recognized the 24th anniversary of the darkest day in American history. In reflecting on this day, we remember the nearly 3,000 New Yorkers who went to sleep 24 years ago the night before, not knowing what the morning would bring and of the heroism of those who rushed toward the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and the field in Shanksville, PA when tragedy struck.
Supervisor Cavaccini was truly honored to have had the opportunity to welcome residents and first responders to our annual Town of Wappinger Remembrance Ceremony at Sgt. Palmateer 9/11 Memorial Park, as well as our first “Day of Service” improving our new veterans Walk of Heroes at Brexel-Schlathaus Park. It was also a privilege to have attended the Village of Wappingers Falls ceremony, as well as the ceremony at New Hackensack Fire Company’s memorial. Special thanks to our First Ward Councilman, William H. Beale, for his efforts putting this memorial event together for our community!
Where many communities may not have a single remembrance ceremony, we are proud to represent this Town where we come together throughout the day and across Wappinger to #NeverForget 🙏🏼

Living Life In Full Bloom During the Wappinger150 Dahlia Show!
An event 100 years in the making! The Wappinger Dahlia Show was revived today after a century on the front porch of the Mesier Homestead and hosted by the Town of Wappinger, Wappingers Historical Society, and Carnwath Community Farming.
Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini was invited to be a guest judge alongside accomplished gardeners from our community. Over 300 visitors saw over 250 award winning varieties of dahlias on display. Moments like this remind us that traditions live on because people care enough to bring them back.
