From the Office of Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini
Dear neighbors,
2025 marks a truly historic time for the Town of Wappinger as we celebrate our sesquicentennial year! Wappinger150 will be a year-long celebration, filled with exciting monthly events and activities that highlight the rich history, vibrant community, and future of our town. We invite all of our residents to join in this special celebration and take part in what promises to be a memorable year for all!
This year also brings exciting updates for our senior community. The newly renovated and expanded Senior Center has been reopened, bringing enhanced spaces and new programs designed to enrich the lives of our seniors. We are thrilled to provide more opportunities for connection, learning, and enjoyment, and we encourage all of our senior neighbors to get involved. Be on the lookout for a new comprehensive calendar of activities coming soon.
In addition to these great developments, we’re kicking off a new year of capital infrastructure projects! We’ll be rebuilding the Chelsea Waterfront Boat Ramp, creating a new live performance stage at Brexel-Schlathaus Park, and making improvements to the Reese Cultural Center at the Carnwath Farms Historic Site & Park—all to better serve our residents and enhance our community spaces.
As always, our commitment to public safety and infrastructure improvements continues. This year, you will start to notice new permanent digital speed signage popping up throughout the Town that will provide us with real time data collection on speeding and reckless driving on our Town roadways. We are dedicated to ensuring Wappinger remains a safe, thriving, and well-maintained place to live, work, and play.
Mother Nature has certainly let us know that winter is here. Our Wappinger Town Highway Department remains diligent in their efforts to keep our roads safe and passable during winter weather events. Please remember that when the National Weather Service declares a winter storm advisory, both the Wappinger Town and the Village of Wappingers Falls Wintertime Parking Ordnance is in effect. This means that parking is prohibited during snowstorms.
As we embark on this exciting year, I encourage everyone to stay engaged and continue to be a part of what makes Wappinger such a special place. Stay warm this month, and here's to a fantastic year ahead!
See you around Town, Joseph D. Cavaccini, Town Supervisor
