From the Office of Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini

Town of Wappinger Seal 2024

Dear neighbors,

I am thrilled to introduce the inaugural edition of our "Around Town" newsletter, aimed at keeping you informed and engaged with all the happenings in our vibrant community. As your Town Supervisor, it is both an honor and a privilege to serve you, and I am excited to share some of the exciting developments and events taking place this May.

First and foremost, I am pleased to announce that the Town Board has officially declared May as Mental Health Awareness Month. Mental health is a vital component of overall well-being, and it is essential that we come together as a community to support and uplift one another. Throughout the month, we are highlighting resources and initiatives aimed at promoting mental wellness for all residents.

In addition to our focus on mental health, we have a host of exciting events lined up for the remainder of May, including Saturday, May 18, when the Village of Wappingers Falls will come alive with creativity and culture at the Festival of the Arts in and around Mesier Park. This celebration of local talent promises to be a day filled with music, art, and community spirit. I encourage you all to come out and show your support for our local artists and performers.

As we approach Memorial Day, let us take a moment to honor and remember the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our Country, most especially those from right here in our own Town. Our community will be hosting Memorial Day ceremonies to pay tribute to these heroes and their families. Details regarding the timing and location of these ceremonies are provided in this issue.

Furthermore, I am thrilled to share that our parks and facilities continue to undergo exciting improvements for the benefit of our residents. From upgraded playgrounds to now fully funding enhancement projects around our facilities, these improvements are designed to create spaces where families can gather, play, and connect with nature. I invite you to explore these improvements firsthand and discover all that our town has to offer.

In closing, I want to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for your ongoing support and dedication to our community. Together, we can continue to make Wappinger a place we are proud to call home. Please stay tuned for future editions of "Around Town," where we will continue to keep you updated on all the latest news and events.

See you around Town,

Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini
