Fishkill Observes Veterans' Day

Supervisor Albra addresses the audience as Fishkill observes Veterans' Day

Town Supervisor Albra joined County Executive Marc Molinaro, elected officials, local veterans and the community Saturday to dedicate three County roads to three Fishkill veterans killed in action in Vietnam.

Three County roads were dedicated in their memory:

County Route 34 - Baxtertown Road - to LCpl Richard Robert Smith, USMC
County Route 35 - Osborne Hill Road - to PFC Michael Garlo, USMC
County Route 36 - Red Schoolhouse Road - to 2Lt. Robert Bruce

Supervisor Albra and the Town Board were honored to present a proclamation to William Smith, brother of LCpl Smith, on the occasion of the road dedication to his brother.

Ceremony to be televised

The ceremony can be watched by clicking the link above, and will be televised on the Town's municipal TV channel, Optimum channel 22 and Verizon channel 40, beginning at 6pm tonight and periodically in the coming days.

Fishkill Observes Veterans' Day, November 7, 2020

Also remembered at Saturday's ceremoney were the Mount Beacon Eight, eight naval servicemembers killed in two separate plane crashes on Mount Beacon. November 11, Veterans' Day, marks the 75th anniversary of the crash in 1945 which claimed six of those servicemembers' lives.
