Town of Fishkill

SEPTEMBER 4, 2020

The Town of Fishkill has been working with other municipalities and community stakeholders in Dutchess County as local governments across the state respond to the President and the Governor's Executive Orders on police reform.

Today, Dutchess County launched a web portal for the public to learn more about the process and who is involved, and to stay up to date as this initiative moves forward.

Continued collaboration with other towns in the County on this initiative is consistent with Supervisor Albra's record of proactive measures to improve the Town of Fishkill Police Department and strengthen its already positive relationship with those it protects and serves. Earlier this year, under Supervisor Albra's leadership, the Town created the position of Police Commissioner to add a level of civilian oversight to the Police Department. The Town also appointed a talented new Chief of Police who is dedicated to expanding community policing initiatives. Additionally, the Town has applied for the Police Accreditation program, to ensure police in the Town of Fishkill are operating at the highest measurable standards in the State of New York.
