Effective January 1, 2023, the Tax Department’s credit and debit card payment services provider, Wells Fargo, reduced its card payment convenience fee rate from 2.25% to 2.20%.
For taxpayers who paid by credit or debit card between January 1, 2023, and May 25, 2023, and were charged 2.25%, Wells Fargo will refund 0.05% of the original payment amount to the credit or debit card used for the original payment. The refunded amount will show as a credit on the cardholder’s statement with a description beginning with WF4NY.
Taxpayers are not required to take any action regarding this refunded convenience fee.
