Turning 65 this year?
You may be eligible for the 2022 Enhanced STAR exemption if you’re turning 65 anytime during this calendar year and:
- you currently receive the Basic STAR property tax exemption,
- your 2020 income was less than or equal to $92,000, and
- all other owners of the property will be 65 years of age or older by December 31, 2022 (unless the other owner is your spouse or sibling).
To apply, provide the following to your assessor:
If you receive the STAR credit as a check instead of the STAR exemption, you don’t need to apply or take any other action. The Tax Department will automatically upgrade you to Enhanced STAR if you qualify.
