Online services to assist your business—January 2022

Use Online Services to conduct business when it’s convenient for you.

Withholding tax

Web File your withholding tax returns using your Business Online Services account. Web File is free—no additional software needed.

  • NYS-45, Quarterly Combined Withholding, Wage Reporting, and Unemployment Insurance Return, due January 31, 2022 
  • NYS-1, Return of Tax Withheld

Key online services and features

  • Access your Account Summary to view detailed filing and payment history. Account Summary for businesses provides filing and payment history for corporation tax, sales tax, and withholding tax.
  • Sign up for electronic communications in your Online Services account. Once signed up, you'll receive most department notices electronically.
  • Update:
    • your business address, phone number, responsible persons (sales tax only), or other business information, using our Business Tax Account Update (DTF-95) application; or
    • only your business address, using our Business Change of Address application.
  • Pay a bill through your Online Services account using our Make a Payment application. You can pay by credit or debit card for a fee, or by direct debit from a bank account for free. View our Make a Bill Payment demo for detailed instructions.
  • If you're unable to pay your tax bills in full, you may qualify for an installment payment agreement (IPA). Visit Installment payment agreement (IPA) to request one.
  • Respond to a department notice to:
    • provide information we requested,
    • protest a bill the fastest way possible, or
    • request penalty abatement.

Creating a Business Online Services account

If you don’t already have a Business Online Services account, you can create one at any time. You'll need:

  • your taxpayer identification number, and
  • one of the following:
    • your corporation, sales, and withholding tax returns filed within the last 12 months; or
    • confirmation that your business has not yet filed a New York State tax return; or
    • your five-digit PIN from a letter you received from the Tax Department.

Adding Users to a Business Online Services account

Business Master Administrators, and Users with permissions to manage other Users, can add Users to your Online Services account to immediately perform services.

 

You can authorize Users to use all, or only certain online services, and grant Users permission to:

  • manage other Users,
  • manage tax professionals, and
  • receive electronic communications!

Note: Only Business Master Administrators can update electronic communication preferences on behalf of a User.
