Assessment Community Weekly

Welcome to March! And congratulations to the assessors of more than 960 assessing units where taxable status date has passed!  Thank you for all you do to help property owners receive the information and benefits they’re eligible for!

2018 RARs are online for most cities & towns

Residential Assessment Ratios for 2018 are now available in Municipal Profiles for most cities and towns with tentative roll dates of May 1 or earlier. Once in MuniPro, select a county or municipality and then select RAR Information. For municipalities with later tentative roll dates, the RAR's will be online sixty days prior to tentative roll date. We will not mail RAR correspondence to assessors unless the initial ratio is revised.

Review your 2018 preliminary taxable state land lists

Preliminary lists of 2018 taxable state land and taxable state conservation easements are now available in the Online Assessment Community for impacted municipalities.

By April 11, please review all posted documents and follow the instructions to complete the lists. If you have any questions after reviewing the instructions and your list, please email our State Land Unit ORPTS.StateLandUnit@tax.ny.gov.

For more information about the preliminary lists, select the Help button on any screen.

Get the facts on STAR renunciation

How to renounce a STAR exemption

We’ve launched the new STAR exemption renunciation page to help you when a taxpayer wants to renounce a STAR exemption.

After you review the new page, email geoffrey.gloak@tax.ny.gov if you have questions or suggestions.

How to renounce a STAR credit

We’re in the process of developing a new form and webpage for homeowners who wish to renounce the STAR credit. (For instance, the property owner may be changing their primary residence to another location.)

Until we launch the form and webpage, you can direct these property owners to the STAR credit line (518-457-2036), or ask them to send us a brief letter signed by all owners. They can fax or mail the letter to us:

Update on server maintenance for Online Assessment Community

The server upgrade went as planned without a hitch. We did not need to extend the work into business hours on the scheduled days. There is no additional maintenance planned for the foreseeable future.
