How to Claim Your License
Dear Licensee,
The new online Appearance Enhancement and Barber Licensing System is now live. With the new system, you can now apply for a new license and schedule your exams online. Before filing a renewal, scheduling an exam on an existing application, or making a change to an existing license, you will need to claim your license. By claiming your license, you are linking or connecting your existing application or license to your New York Business Express account.
Please note that you may not claim a license which is inactive (a business license or application which is more than 2 years old, or an operator license or application which is more than 5 years old).
To start the claiming process, please follow these steps:
- Go to the New York Business Express page.
- Choose the license or application type you wish to claim from the list.
- Under the heading “Looking to claim a license or application?” review instructions and click “Claim Online” button when you are ready to start your claim.
- Login to your my.ny.gov account you used to manage your license in the previous system. (If you forgot your username or password, click the “Forgot Username” or “Forgot Password” link for assistance with finding this information.)
- Once you are logged into your account, you will be prompted with the steps needed to complete your claim. Step-by-step guides are available to help you through the process of claiming your license or application and completing transactions online.
