Get Assistance for Your Constituents
New York State is home to the nation's second largest network of Community Action Agencies (CAAs). New York's 47 agencies cover every New York county and receive funding through the Federal Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) to combat poverty among individuals and families living with low-income. Review the 2024 Poverty Report by the New York State Community Action Association for more information.
While CAAs have many different names, they share the same goal. Our Agencies are dedicated to helping low-income and disadvantaged individuals and families. CAAs provide your local community with:
- Rent and utility assistance
- Domestic violence resources
- Childcare services/Head Start
- Employment assistance and training
- Home heating or weatherization assistance
- Emergency food, clothing, and housing assistance
- And more
As an elected official, you have the power to advocate for Community Action Agencies. We encourage you to contact your local agency. Provide support by volunteering or becoming a Community Action board member.
