With new bear hunting opportunities, crossbows allowed once again (pending adoption of regulations anticipated in mid-August), more counties open to hunting with rifles, reduced setback distances for crossbows and vertical bows, and restructured license types and fees, New York big game hunters will see a variety of changes this fall.  To help hunters navigate the changes and plan their hunting activities, DEC recently updated the webpages linked below:

  • 2014-15 NY Hunting & Trapping Regulations Guide - www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/37136.html
  • Deer and Bear Hunting Seasons - www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/28605.html
