NYS Pollution Prevention Institute  (NYSP2I) at Rochester Institute of Technology announces the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute K-12 Student Poster Competition!

NYSP2I is an environmental research center funded by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.  NYSP2I works with businesses and organizations to help them improve their process efficiency and become more sustainable.

NYSP2I's  K-12 Student Poster Competition highlights current sustainability initiatives of NYS schools, shares these ideas and best practices with the community and discusses opportunities for expanding these initiatives. Any initiatives your school has taken in regards to reducing environmental impacts (i.e. milk carton recycling, food waste reduction, energy & water efficiency, initiating an environmental club, green purchasing, etc.) would be appropriate for this competition.

All posters submitted will be displayed at NYSP2I's April 22, 2014 Earth Day Event & Student Competition Exhibition at RIT’s Golisano Institute for Sustainability in Rochester, NY. The event is open to the public and will provide an exciting and educational morning of activities for all ages.

Poster competition finalists will receive a special invitation to attend the final judging and awards luncheon during this event. Additional information about the event and NYSP2I can be found at www.nysp2i.rit.edu.

This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase your school’s sustainability initiatives. To promote participation, would you consider distributing  the attached flyer to your school’s green team, PTA/PTO, teachers and staff?

Applications are due March 7, 2014 while posters are due April 8, 2014. Multiple applications per school district may be accepted, but only one application per school will be accepted. So, coordination at the school level is suggested.
