$3 Million in Grants Available for Invasive Species ProjectsThe Invasive Species Grants Program, supported by the State Environmental Protection Fund (EPF), is designed to advance projects that target both aquatic and terrestrial invasive species across the state. DEC is accepting applications for these grants through Nov. 1, 2023. Municipalities, academic institutions, and not-for-profits may submit applications for funding for eligible projects in up to two of the following categories:
Grant awards range from a minimum of $11,000 to a maximum of $200,000, with a required 25 percent match. Project locations must be located wholly within New York State and priority will be given to projects that include opportunities for public participation, are on or close to public lands or waterbodies, and emphasize long-term success. Join us for the 2023 NYS Invasive Species Expo!The Invasive Species Expo is a unique conference focusing on invasive species, and this year we are featuring a special event: Community Conservation Day! Find us next to Spa City Farmer’s Market at Saratoga Spa State Park on September 24th, 10AM – 4PM. No registration required. We’re featuring demonstrations by the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference Conservation Dogs as well as a plant photography workshop, and a hands-on tutorial on how to use the iMapInvasives phone app to report invasive species in your neighborhood. It will be fun for the whole family, and you can even win prizes! If you want a deeper dive into the world of invasive species management and research, join us for our Expo Professional Days, September 25th and 26th at the Roosevelt Campus at Saratoga Spa State Park. You’ll have the option of attending unique presentations, hands-on workshops, field tips, and interactive demonstrations. Registration is required for the expo professional days. There is no cost for attendance. Share Your Ideas: Clean Water, Clean Air and Green Jobs Environmental Bond ActThis spring and summer, the public and potential funding applicants had the opportunity to learn more about the Bond Act at a series of educational listening sessions. Missed out on attending a session? Check out the virtual session recordings. Share your ideas for how the Clean Water, Clean Air and Green Jobs Environmental Bond Act could help your community and environment. Complete a short survey to collect project ideas and other feedback. This survey will provide stakeholders and members of the public a place to share these ideas. We need your input to help the New York State team select projects and deliver funds while also ensuring a transparent and collaborative process that benefits all New Yorkers. The deadline for ideas and comments has been extended to September 30. |
