Comment Period Deadline Approaches for 2022 Draft NYS Stormwater Design ManualThe extended comment period for the final draft of the New York State Stormwater Management Design Manual (Design Manual) ends December 18, 2022. The 2022 draft Design Manual includes new stormwater management practices (SMPs), clarifies calculations for designing SMPs, provides enhanced guidance for implementing several SMPs, updates precipitation data criteria, improves document organization, provides enhanced guidance for addressing pollutants of concern, adds green infrastructure SMPs for poor site conditions, and provides guidance on addressing climate change. Engineer in Division of Water Receives DEC's Highest HonorDEC Commissioner Basil Seggos presented the Ernest F. Trad Award, DEC's highest honor awarded to an individual employee, to Dave Gasper, Professional Engineer in the Division of Water. The Trad Award was established in 1984 to recognize a member of DEC whose ability or special achievements further DEC's goals and objectives of public service. Dave was recognized as being a respected and effective representative for DEC in its stormwater pollution prevention efforts. Among Dave's many accomplishments, he has played a key role in the development of the critical partnerships and training courses that have been established and implemented to ensure the success of the state's stormwater initiatives. He has moved DEC's programs forward in a professional and courteous manner, earning the respect of his co-workers, consulting engineers, municipal officials, contractors, developers, and State and local partners. Congratulations Dave, and thanks for all your hard work. |
