Important Information: After April 22, 2021 Recycle Right NY will be switching to a new, expanded campaign with more tools, information, and a custom website to provide you with even more waste reduction, reuse and recycling resources and content!

In order to keep receiving monthly resources, after April 22, 2021 you must:

• Go to RecycleRightNY.org and enter your email address in the “Newsletter Signup” field.
• Follow the campaign for regular content on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

This month’s resources are dedicated to spreading the word about the Recycle Right NY campaign's official launch of a first-of-its-kind statewide recycling website on Earth Day, April 22, 2021. The newly launched website will address recycling confusion and contamination, and be the go-to hub for recycling related information for residents across New York State.

To spread the message, please use the resources below (Facebook/ Instagram posts, Twitter tweets, newsletter article and other resources) through the month of April via your social media platforms, newsletters, etc. Modify the order for the month as necessary to fit your needs. For more content visit the Recycle Right NY webpage.

New York State Recycling Website Launching Earth Day 2021!

The Recycle Right NY campaign will officially launch a first-of-its-kind statewide recycling website on Earth Day, April 22, 2021. The newly launched website will address recycling confusion and contamination, and be the go-to hub for recycling related information for residents across New York State.

This Earth Day, be sure to visit https://recyclerightny.org/ to discover how you can help improve our environment through better recycling habits. On the website, you will learn about the value of everyday materials and why recycling correctly is important. Featuring new resources such as a search tool to help you easily find your local recycling guidelines, you will learn more about what is and is not recyclable, and how best to recycle in your community. The website will also include a “Recyclopedia” – an encyclopedia for recycling – that will provide waste reduction, reuse, and recycling tips for more than 300 common household items.

The Recycle Right NY initiative began in 2018 and is a collaborative effort of more than 100 recycling professionals from throughout New York State working to improve our recycling system. Recycling generates many benefits for our ecosystems, communities, and economies. By keeping valuable materials in productive use, recycling conserves natural resources, reduces litter, saves energy, creates jobs, and so much more.

Free high resolution images formatted for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and newsletters can be downloaded by going to NYS DEC's Recycle Right NY Flickr album. *

Images may not be available right away. If you do not see images for the item of the month we recommend waiting a day or two and then checking the Flickr album again for updates.  

Directions to download from Flickr: Click the link to open the Flickr album. Scroll to the image you want and left click on it. The image will now be brought up on the screen by itself. In the far right bottom corner there will be a downward facing arrow with a line under it. Left click on it and choose, Original (1024x512) as the option. It will automatically download.  If you need assistance please e-mail us at recycling@dec.ny.gov.
