Stay Well Note on Compost Bin

Our garbage, recycling and organics collection haulers are on the frontlines continuing their work to ensure our communities continue to function.

Show your appreciation by leaving a note or drawing on your garbage, recycling or composting bin for your local haulers. Send us photos of your appreciation and they could be featured in the Solid Waste & Recycling Newsletter as well as DEC social media. Email photos to organicrecycling@dec.ny.gov .

2020 New York Recycles! Poster Contest

NY Recycles NYS Landscape

Attention All New York State Teachers and Students! We are once again inviting all New York State public and private school children and youth organizations to showcase their artistic talent and their commitment to the environment by participating in the 18th Annual New York Recycles! Poster Contest. This poster contest helps us to achieve our goal of higher excellence in waste reduction, recycling, composting, and buying recycled products and packaging. The winners receive the honor of having their artwork showcased in the 2021 NY Recycles! calendar, which will be distributed throughout the State. Creating a New York Recycles! Poster is a great way to celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd.

Submit your poster by Friday, May 29th, and winners will be notified before the end of the school year. This beautiful poster was submitted by Estee Hofman from HAFTR High School and received second place in the Grades 10-12 category. For more information on the poster contest rules.

Please email recycling@dec.ny.gov or call 518-402-8706 if you have any questions.
