Tips to Leave No Trace this Summer (and Always!)

DEC has you covered for how to leave no trace during your outdoor adventures this summer. From the backcountry to you neighborhood park, you can easily apply the seven principles of Leave No Trace (LNT) anywhere, any time to help protect the places we know and love. Follow the first principle, plan ahead and prepare, by checking out all the new, easy how-to videos on DEC's YouTube channel.

Comments Accepted Until 7/18 on Proposed Primitive Tent Site Guidance

Primitive tent site in forestDEC and the Adirondack Park Agency (APA) are currently accepting comments on proposed guidance for primitive tent sites on State lands in the Adirondack Park. The proposed guidance for design and layout provides criteria for site size limits, accessibility, roadside camping, and more.

APA will accept written or e-mailed comments  until July 18. You can view the document and submission info on APA's website.

The conference will take place July 18th-20th and will feature speakers, tours, and plenty of networking opportunities for anyone passionate about urban and community forestry. Register online and view the full conference agenda. Registration is still open, and walk-ins are welcome, but conference housing at the college is full.

UCF Grant Program Info Sessions to be Held Statewide

Are you a municipality, not-for-profit, or soil and water conservation district that works with public trees? Then be sure to attend one of DEC's Urban and Community Forestry Grant Program information sessions this August and September, happening statewide. Sessions will explain eligible project types, who can apply, and more details about the next round of UCF grants that will be announced this fall.
