Hudson River Estuary Resiliency Funding AvailableDEC Commissioner Basil Seggos has announced the availability of $50,000 to help communities and site managers assess flooding risk and plan for flooding and sea-level rise at shore front park lands and river access sites along the Hudson River Estuary. Funding Available – FEMA Flood Mitigation AssistanceThe Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Flood Mitigation Assistance Program has made available federal funds to state, local and tribal governments to reduce or eliminate the risk of repetitive flood damage to buildings and structures insured under the National Flood Insurance Program. Annual Black River Initiative Newsletter AvailableThe Tug Hill Commission, in collaboration with DEC’s Great Lakes Program and other organizations in the Black River watershed, has released the 2018 Black River Initiative newsletter. The newsletter details efforts among the Tug Hill Commission, DEC, Soil and Water Districts and other partners to advance the Black River Watershed Management Plan and Nine Element Watershed Plan. Registration Open for Annual Water Quality Symposium - March 12-15, 2019The NYS Conservation District Employees Association (CDEA) and the NYS Soil and Water Conservation Committee, in collaboration with conservation partners, will be holding their Annual Water Quality Symposium and CDEA Annual Training Session in Syracuse from March 12-15, 2019.
