Changes for Summer Flounder and Black Sea Bass

Summer Flounder:
  • Effective Wednesday, April 18, 2018, the summer flounder weekly program is set at 350 pounds weekly. This trip limit will remain in effect through April 30, 2018.
  • The daily trip limit remains set at 50 pounds,
Parameters of the summer flounder weekly program:
  • The weekly limit, with a maximum of two landings a week, is not to be exceeded.
  • The fishing week for the fluke weekly program is Saturday to Friday.
  • A vessel may not possess more than the weekly limit in any one fishing week
Black Sea Bass:
  • Effective Wednesday, April 18, 2018, the daily trip limit is increased to 210 pounds. This trip limit will remain in effect through April 30, 2018.
  • Effective May 1, 2018 through May 14, 2018 the black sea bass fishery is closed. 

Additional Changes Going into Effect Starting May 1

Spiny Dogfish: Effective Tuesday, May 1, 2018, the daily trip limit for spiny dogfish remains at 6,000 pounds. This trip limit will remain in effect until further notice.

Bluefish: Effective Tuesday, May 1, 2018, the daily trip limit for bluefish is set at 1,000 pounds. This trip limit will remain in effect until further notice.

Scup: Effective Tuesday, May 1, 2018, the daily trip limit for scup is set at 800 pounds. This trip limit will remain in effect until further notice.

Black Sea Bass: Effective Tuesday, May 15, 2018, the daily trip limit for black sea bass is set at 50 pounds. This trip limit will remain in effect until further notice.

Postcards have been sent to appropriate permit holders.
