DEC E-Waste and HHW grant application deadlines – clarification

A recent DEC Delivers newsletter announcing electronic waste (e-waste) assistance grants may have included confusing information about the application deadlines for e-waste and household hazardous waste (HHW) grants.

The e-waste funding opportunity, although administered through DEC’s household hazardous waste (HHW) assistance grant program, has different requirements and a different deadline than the grants offered for HHW collection days and construction of permanent HHW collection facilities.

Municipalities can receive reimbursement of up to 50 percent of eligible e-waste recycling expenses incurred between April 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017. The deadline to apply for e-waste assistance grants is January 31, 2018.

For those municipalities that wish to apply for a HHW assistance grant, applications will be accepted during January and February of each year for expenses incurred during the previous calendar year.  For more information on the HHW grant program, please visit:  http://www.dec.ny.gov/chemical/8778.html.
