Five Rivers Environmental Education Center, at 56 Game Farm Road, Delmar, Albany County, is your place for exploring the outdoors. Our grounds are open daily from sunrise to sunset. Our visitor center is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, except state holidays.

Reminder: Dogs and other pets are not permitted at Five Rivers. If you are looking for a natural area to walk with your pet, we are happy to recommend nearby locations where they are welcome. Call us at 518-475-0291.

Saturday, November 25:

10:00 AM - Watchable Wildlife: Wild Turkeys
Wild turkeys were absent from New York State for about 100 years. We'll begin learning about these remarkable animals and their amazing comeback indoors. Then, we'll walk outdoors to learn more about Five Rivers' role in their recovery.

2:00 PM - Family Fun: Talkin' Turkey
We’ll learn the fascinating natural history of the wild turkey through an indoor presentation, games, crafts and a short outdoor walk. For children 5-10 years old. Adults must accompany children. Space at this free program is limited. Call 518-475-0291 by Wednesday, November 22 to register.


Saturday, December 2:

10:00 AM - Family Fun: Let's Make a Green Holiday!
Turn trash into treasure or use eco-friendly materials to wrap those packages for under the tree or for any special day. Come ready to get a little messy as have eco-friendly, kid-friendly fun. Adults must accompany children. Space at this free program is limited. Call 518-475-0291 by Wednesday, November 29 to register.

2:00 PM - Naturalists as Reading Partners
Join us as we discover the coming of winter, both in the pages of books and outdoors. A naturalist will read a story, and then we’ll go walk outdoors to explore some of the themes in the book. We’ll end by completing a craft in the visitor center. For children ages 3-7. Adults must accompany children.

4:00 PM - Citizen Science: Owl Prowl
Join in as we survey owls at Five Rivers. Field parties will visit likely owl roosts, then gather to compare findings. Space at this free program is limited. Call 518-475-0291 by Monday, November 27 to register.


Monday, December 4:

7:00 to 9:00 PM - Hudson-Mohawk Bird Club Speaker Series: Birds and Avian Research at the Albany Pine Bush
Join members of the Hudson-Mohawk Bird Club (HMBC) for their monthly speaker series. Details for this month’s program, presented by Amanda Dillon, are on the HMBC website.
