Grant Awards and Opportunities

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced Green Jobs for Youth grants have been awarded to 10 organizations across the state to serve communities that face environmental justice and unemployment challenges. The Governor also announced the Department of Environmental Conservation has released a request for applications for $1 million in new grant funding to support an initiative to promote environmental education through the development of Urban Environmental Education Centers.

Are you interested in a career in public service, but not sure how or where to start? The New York State Department of Civil Service has exam announcements for competitive, promotional, and continuous recruitment positions, student internship opportunities and local government exams.

Most examinations are held periodically. Some examinations are held on a continuous recruitment basis. This means that applications are accepted continuously, qualified applicants are tested on an as-needed basis and successful candidates' names are added to the eligible list continuously.

Think Summer

Camp

Winter is just around the corner, but it's never too soon to think about summer.DEC offers week-long adventures in conservation education for children ages 11-17 at four residential camps for children: Camp Colby in Saranac Lake (Franklin County); Camp DeBruce in Livingston Manor (Sullivan County); Camp Rushford in Caneadea (Allegany County), and Pack Forest in Warrensburg (Warren County).

Online registration for DEC's Environmental Education Camps will open Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at 10:00 a.m.  Applications should be submitted through the online registration system -- the link is provided on the Summer Camps webpage.

If you are a sporting club, civic group, environmental organization, or just a giving citizen interested in sponsoring one or more children for a week at camp, visit Environmental Education's website.
