DEC to Sell Firewood on Indian River and Ashland Flats WMAs
|
| The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will be offering small firewood sales on Indian River and Ashland Flats Wildlife Management Area's (WMAs). The removal of the trees will improve habitat for young forest dependent wildlife species. Indian River WMA is in the town of Theresa and Ashland Flats WMA is in the town of Lyme, both in Jefferson County. If you are interested in purchasing and cutting firewood on these WMAs, or for more information, contact the young forest initiative team at 315-785-2263 or information.R6@dec.ny.gov. To slow the spread of invasive species, New York State law limits the transportation of untreated firewood to less than 50 miles from its source.
