Only hire an applicator properly registered and certified by the New York State Department of Environmental ConservationHiring the right business or person to apply pesticides to your lawn or home is a decision that should not be taken lightly. Improperly handling or applying pesticides can pose a serious threat to you and your family, your workers and the environment. This work should only be done by people who are properly trained and equipped to safely handle these products. In fact, it’s the law. Businesses and individuals offering pesticide services must be registered with the NYSDEC Bureau of Pest Management and employ only Certified pesticide applicators and/or technicians. So before you hire anyone to apply pesticides to your lawn or garden or in your home or business, first be sure to ask if they are properly registered and certified by DEC. You can also check if a business or applicator is properly registered by searching the New York State Pesticide Administration Database. Using the many search options you can find the right professional. Search by: • Business Name You can also check for the DEC issued triangle shaped Pesticide Registration Sticker that should be prominently displayed on the sides of commercial application equipment or vehicles. If you have questions or need more information, we are here to help. Please email us at PestMgt@dec.ny.gov or call (518) 402-8748. |
