DEC, United Sportsmen Association of Rockland County, and the Town of Clarkstown to Host the 6TH Annual National Hunting and Fishing Day Event on September 23rd!


Free, Fun-Filled Family Event Features Interactive Activities and Informational Demonstrations and Booths

Individuals and families are invited to attend a celebration of National Hunting and Fish Day at Congers Lake Memorial Park, 6 Gilchrest Rd (off Rt. 303) in Congers on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. A wide variety of outdoor sports and activities will be offered for children and adults, including:

free fishing on dock

A Free Fishing Day:
All bait and tackle will be provided free-of-charge. Since a NYS fishing license will NOT be required to participate, it is a perfect time to take friends and family members fishing. DEC Fisheries Staff will be on hand during the event to offer advice and assist people new to the sport. Supplies may become limited, so if you have your own fishing tackle and supplies, you are encouraged you bring them.

Sportsman Education and Wildlife Information including a Wildlife Pelt Quiz and materials to help you prepare to take Hunter, Bowhunter and Trapping Education courses, which are required before you can get New York State hunting and trapping licenses.
