Social Equity & Local Climate Action Planning

A Climate Smart Communities Webinar

Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Equity has emerged as a priority in community sustainability planning. For example, under shifting demographics, many city governments in the United States will soon be serving populations that are majority people of color, if they do not already. Many communities find it challenging, however, to develop solutions that integrate equity concerns and environmental justice into climate action planning. In this webinar, participants will learn about approaches that apply an equity lens to strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate change. Speakers will also discuss some of the resources and support available in New York State to advance equity and environmental justice at the community level.

Please provide us with your name and community affiliation, either via email or telephone to the Office of Climate Change at climatechange@dec.ny.gov or 518-402-8448. In the event that we cancel or postpone this webinar, respondents will be notified.
