DEC Hosts Youth Waterfowl & Pheasant Hunt, Free for Youths Ages 12 - 15

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s Officers (ECOs), and wildlife staff, are again offering youths ages 12 through 15, an opportunity to hunt waterfowl and pheasant with them this fall in St. Lawrence County. They are teaming up with the Federated Sportsmen’s Club of St. Lawrence County to hunt waterfowl and pheasant at the Wilson Hill Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Louisville, NY. Mentors from volunteering sportsmen’s clubs will be on hand to assist the youth hunters that may not be accustomed or familiar with waterfowl and/or pheasant hunting. 

The hunt is a two day event with an educational day. The educational day is Friday, September 16th beginning at 5:00 pm and at the Massena Rod and Gun Club. The Waterfowl hunt will take place on Saturday, September 17th, and the Pheasant hunt will take place on Saturday, September 24th

Interested youth hunters must possess a New York State small game license, and register with the Harvest Information Program (HIP). The event is absolutely free to the participants and all equipment will be provided if necessary.
