Special Regulations now in effect to protect Croton Gorge Unique Area in Cortlandt

Croton River at the Croton Unique Area
New regulations are in effect at the Croton Gorge Unique Area in the Town of Cortlandt. The special regulations were put in place to protect the public and the gorge.

Heavy summertime use of the area prompted DEC to issue the regulations after gathering input from the public.

As of July 13, 2016
• Camping is prohibited
• The Unique Area will be open from sunrise to sunset
• No fires are allowed, including charcoal and gas grills
• No consumption or possession of alcohol
• No music, except through personal devices where headphones or earbuds are used.

Help us protect this scenic and largely undisturbed forest and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, by following the new regulations when you visit.
