Water Week is May 2 – 6

This year’s theme is: Lake Management. New York is fortunate to have many lakes of all sizes, and people use them for a variety of purposes, such as drinking water, flood control, and recreation.

Water Week is a time to re-commit to protecting and conserving New York’s water resources, because everybody is needed to help take care of our waters. We encourage you to learn more about current water-related issues and renew your efforts to restore, protect and conserve our lakes, rivers and streams.

2015 Clear Waters Columns Now Available

Four columns about water-related issues written by DEC Deputy Commissioner for Water Resources James Tierney are now available on the Columns by DEC Staff Appearing in Clear Waters webpage. The topics include wastewater treatment energy efficiency, Jamaica Bay, the Great Lakes and the anniversary of the Pure Waters Act. These columns were originally published in the four 2015 issues of Clear Waters magazine, the quarterly publication of the New York State Water Environment Association.
